- Political representation of women: Women reservation bill reserving a 3rd of parliamentary seats are passed.
- Budgetary allocation: $27billion is allocated under gender budgeting.
- Employment: According to PLFS, women labor force participation ratio has increased from 23.3% in 2017-18 to 37% in 2022-23.
- Female enrollment in higher education increased by 28% in 10 years.
- STEM cources enrollment: Women has 43% share. Highest in the world.
- Rural women: Over nine crore women participated in 83 lakh SHGs, led to socioeconomic development of women.
Way forward
- Industries across the world should come forward and share best practises to include women in the workspace.
- Inclusion of women issues in all global issues and relate summits. Eg: Climate change, biodiversity, UNCCD.
India’s measure to create global alliance is in line with vasudaiva kutimbakam, finding a global stakeholder based solution for gender related issues.
